Redditch Borough Council is the local authority serving Worcestershire’s biggest town. The council serves a borough-wide population of approximately 80,000 people. Compact in size at 54 square miles, the borough is founded on a New Town and since the 1960s there has been a rapid influx of people moving to the area. Yet even with a growth in housing, a top ten shopping centre and industrial development – including the headquarters of GKN, the Law Society and Halfords – the borough is surprisingly green, with nearly 5 million trees planted and an award-winning country park and sailing lake just a few miles from the town centre.
